Stella served as the Grand Marshall of Lobelville’s 2009 Christmas Parade last Friday. “To come to Perry County and be able to personally thank, face-to-face, each and every National Guard person who will be leaving, is an honor for me,” said Stella Parton. “These men and women quietly serve our country all the time, always on call, always at the ready. Now they will be leaving their homes to go overseas to the Middle East, and be in harm’s way, to serve America. How can we all not be humbled by their sacrifice? To simply be able to wish them Merry Christmas before they go is a privilege I couldn’t pass up.” “I’m really grateful that Stella Parton has accepted our invitation to be the Grand Marshall, and she is really coming to Perry County to meet and greet the National Guard people who will be leaving the next day,” said Lobelville Mayor Robby Moore. “With the departing National Guard unit, three high school marching bands, the floats, Santa, and Stella Parton, I know that this will be one of our most memorable parades ever,” Moore continued. In addition, Mayor Robby Moore also presented Stella with the key to the city. This was the highest attended Christmas parade they have ever had.

- Holiday Magic - Christmas CD
After years of recording, Stella is releasing her first ever Christmas CD. Stella kicks off the CD with the classic “Christmas Time’s A Comin’ and wraps up with “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”. Stella also recorded a track from her forthcoming book “Tell It Sister Tell It” which is a story she wrote from her family childhood called “My Santa Drove A Green Pickup.” CD Baby (distributor of Stella Parton Music) is so excited about the new Christmas CD that they are featuring it in the next CD Baby Kids/Family Discovery newsletter.
Stella will be the Grand Marshall for the Christmas Parade in Lobelville, TN this Friday, December 4th at 5:30 PM. After the parade, Stella will be spending time with the National Guardsmen who will be shipping out the next morning for Iraq.
November 9th will be declared World Orphans Day 2009. Stella speaks out for this worthy cause in a public service announcement being launched internationally. This world-wide campaign will bring awareness to the pandemic affecting orphans in our world today.
World Orphans Day 2009 is an initiative of The Stars Foundation, which works to create a better, safer, more secure environment for orphans both domestically and in the developing world.
